Books For Children As A Teacher

How can your child learn behaviour patterns? Your kid can do this in the same way, as he or she learns to do all other things: adopting everything that he or she sees around. Literature plays the major role here, because bright images and fascinating plots can become printed on mind and provoke deep reflections.

Earlier the majority of children’s books, films, performances were intended not only for entertainment, but also education. Then society lurched towards its entertaining nature. Now we start to reap educational experiments harvest. Impoverished perception of modern children is obvious. It is even on their faces: they have impoverished facial expression. It is difficult for most of them to show even the simplest emotions such as pleasure, sorrow, joy, offence. Much worse than earlier different traits are identified by modern children. You will tell them uncomplicated story about rude or, for example, lazy heroes, and put a question “What character do these people or animals have?” and will hear “they were bad…”. Only after different leading questions, which actually contain direct help (“Girl was lazy to get up early, she was lazy to do her hair and make the bed, so, it means that she was…), only then somebody will guess to name epithet, which you wanted to hear.

So, emotionally-moral development of your children should be the key, and you can do this with the help of good children’s books. Of course, this theory doesn’t mean complete ejection of an entertaining element, however, the most part of your home library should not only amuse your child but also teach and develop him or her.

Discuss everything that you read. Direct children’s reflections to characters of personages, their feelings and reasons of their behavior.

Put more questions, because discussions of adults with children quite often turn into moralizing monologues during which your child goes out as always and hears nothing.

It is necessary not only to discuss books read with preschool and junior school children, but also to try to dramatize it, stage adaptation allows to make them clear very many things and do this unobtrusively. They start to understand different things, which you didn’t hope to explain.

If you want the book to help your child to overcome his or her psychological problems (for example, fears, avarice or obstinacy), don’t use it with slogans like “real men (good children, obedient girls) do like this, but you …”. Even hidden reproach will hurt feelings of your child, who worries about this defect, but doesn’t want to hear about it.

Help your kid, using the best children’s books, which you can find on our site.

How To Use Play Rugs To Make Kids Playtime A Learning Experience

In this article we will be taking a closer look at the use of play rugs as a fun tool to help kids learn, interact and also to assist kids that are suffering from attention deficit disorder (ADD). It can be challenging at times to keep kids entertained and to help them to learn and have fun at the same time. There are numerous toys and games available on the market that can be used to educate kids while they play. The main aim of educational games and fun activities is to keep the children interested and focused on the tasks at hand.

A growing percentage of children are suffering from attention deficit disorder (ADD) and these children have unique learning and performance needs. The U.S. Department of Education issued a memorandum in 1991 which directed all state departments of education to recognize the needs of children with ADD in regular and special education. Children suffering from ADD tend to fail to finish what is started, has a hard time paying attention, fidgets, talks excessively and out of turn, can’t sit still and acts impulsive or without thinking.

Play rugs can be used to keep kids entertained, to learn kids how to interact in a group and can be used in combination with other games and toys. Classroom rugs can be used to cater for the unique needs of children suffering from ADD and teachers or educators can use these rugs in combination with their educational material.

Rugs of all shapes, sizes and designs are available and can be used at a day-care, preschool, church, elementary school or at home. You get alphabet rugs, music rugs, faith based rugs, numbers rugs, shapes rugs, animal rugs, sign language rugs, circle time rugs, boys room rugs and girls room rugs to name but a few. There is a play rug for almost every need whether it is to help children to learn the alphabet or to learn how to interact in a group.

Why should you use a play rug?

• It is safe
• You can combine it with educational activities
• Kids learn while they play
• It is ideal for group activities
• You can use a variety of different rugs to keep children entertained
• Play rugs are designed to withstand high traffic volumes
• Play rugs are treated to reduce the growth of common bacteria, fungi, yeast, mould and mildew
• It is a long term investment in the education of your kids

Children love to be entertained and they retain more information when they are playing. It makes a lot of sense to invest in play rugs for kids to be used in their bedrooms or playrooms at home. Elementary schools, preschools and day-care facilities can purchase classroom rugs to be used as an additional tool by teachers and educators to educate children in a fun way combining it with the normal activities that are provided.
